Guardians
Trusted people who help transfer your assets if you become inactive. They can't access your funds directly.
Guardians vote to transfer your assets if you become inactive. Multiple must agree, and assets can only go to your pre-chosen recipients. No single guardian can act alone.
How It Works
Example: 3 guardians, 2-of-3 threshold
• Any 1 can send check-in reminders • 2 must agree to initiate a vote • 2 must sign to execute transfer
Even if one guardian is compromised, they can't steal your assets.
Can Do
View vault status
See if check-ins are current or overdue.
Send reminders
Ping you if you're late on a check-in.
Vote on transfers
When you're inactive, vote to send assets to recipient.
• Withdraw to their own wallets • Change recipients (only you can) • Bypass threshold (multiple must agree) • Skip grace period (you can always cancel) • See your balance or transactions
The smart contract enforces these limits.
Choosing Guardians
Good guardian traits:
Trustworthy
Acts in your family's interest.
Reachable
Responds to messages.
Diverse
Different locations, ages, life situations.
Recommended Thresholds
2-of-3
Good balance of security and practicality.
3-of-5
More secure for larger amounts.
Adding Guardians
By email: Add them by email. Ante creates a wallet for each of them, so they never handle keys.
Gas fees: Guardians pay gas when they vote or execute a transfer. Sending each guardian $10-20 worth of ETH covers that.
Add a second email account you control as a guardian. It protects against losing one account without relying on anyone else. Keep a 7+ day timelock as your main protection.
